Ms Cara's Class - Infants

Hello, Infant Class family and friends!

The month of March has flown by, and we’ve all had to make different adjustments with illness on the rise. We’ve taken extra precautions in our infant room to try to keep sickness at a minimum, including increasing hand washing both for our teachers and infants and extra cleaning and sanitizing throughout the day.

We continued with Language Arts as our teaching focus this month and focused in on helping the infants respond to their own names. It’s been exciting to see how the infants have been developing in this area! The infants also have been enjoying seeing their family photos on the wall and taking them down and looking at them. If you have any family photos you’d like to add to the wall, feel free to bring them in or email them to lkaufmann@delawarechild.org.

In April, our teaching focus will be Creative Arts. Be prepared for lots of extra artwork in their cubbies! Art not only helps develop the child’s creativity but also aids in developing and refining their fine motor and gross motor skills. When infants experiment with different art materials (tissue paper; painting with: feet and hands, paintbrushes, fingers, sponges, etc.), they open themselves up to learning science.

“Creating art expands a child’s ability to interact with the world around them, and provides a new set of skills for self-expression and communication. Not only does art help to develop the right side of the brain, it also cultivates important skills that benefit a child’s development.” -MaryAnn F. Kohl

If you have any Creative Art ideas for our infants, feel free to share them with us! We love having our parents involved and would love to have you come in and help us with our creative skills!

Sincerely,

Ms. Cara
