A Look Back on August

Hello, Providers!

We have had a busy August. As we mentioned in the last newsletter, we have finally been able to do some training and technical assistance. We are constantly checking COVID-19 active cases in each of our counties, making tough decisions on when it is safe to travel back into that county. Along with checking COVID-19 numbers, we are also putting other safety measures in place to keep the spread to a minimum. Some of these procedures are having less than 9 people in a training, wearing masks while attending training, checking temperatures, and washing hands before training starts. As more information comes from the CDC and state officials, we may have to change or require more safety measures. Please be patient with us as we navigate these new procedures and policies.

September’s newsletter is all about the inclusion of families in the childcare setting. With Grandparent’s Day in September, we wanted to give our providers up-to-date information about how and why to include families in their settings. This article from the Children’s Bureau in Los Angeles, shows why the family has a large part in each child’s development. Here is the link to the article: The Role of Family in Child Development.

Last month, we gave everyone exciting news about the Child Care Aware of America Grant. We are ordering PPE supplies and gathering toys and other material for our social emotional kits. If you need any PPE or would like to check out one of our kits, please contact your R&R Specialist; we would like to bring them to you.

We have sent out our Complete Update 2 survey. We have had 27 providers complete this survey. We do this survey twice a year for our statewide database which allows us to provide families needing child care updated information on the facilities in their area. When you complete your update by October 16th, you will be entered to win a $150 Lakeshore Gift Certificate. Click the link to complete yours today!
