For the month of May we will be focusing on Creative skills from the early learning guidelines book. This book is used to help develop the children. The standard that we will focus on is Standard One: Begin to understand his/her world by using senses to explore and experience the environment. The way we will develop the children in this skill is through working with our five senses for the month. We will work on our five senses of smell, touch, hear, taste, and sight. By working on these five senses, it will help the children learn more about their environment around them.
We will work on our creative skills through a lot of finger painting and painting with different objects such as paint brushes, feathers, sponges, and fly swatters.
With the weather getting warmer, we will be going outside a lot more which will help the children develop their creative skills and also help develop their five senses even more. We will also start working with more musical instruments so that the children can hear the different sounds of the instruments. We will also work more with crayons and chalk which will help develop the children’s fine motor skills as well and enhance the children’s creative minds. We are also going to explore more with sensory materials from water, feathers, ice cubes, pudding, Jell-O, and bubbles. To help develop the children’s senses we will be adding a scent to the paint and different textures for the children to smell and touch.
We are very excited to watch and develop the children’s creative skills in so many ways!
Sincerely
Ms. Ashley and Ms. Gabi
