Ms Tuyet's Class - Preschool 2

Hello, Preschool 2 Families!

We have missed seeing all of our friends, but we are glad that our friends and families are staying safe during this time. In the month of April, we have been learning about insects. The children have had the opportunity to go on many nature walks around the center and near the pond. During our walks we have had the chance to see many bugs. The children are really good at pointing out and naming the various bugs, such as spiders, ants, bees, and ladybugs. In addition to searching for bugs, the children have been playing on the exercise equipment and playing near the pond. While at the pond, the children have been experimenting with sink or float—using rocks, sticks, and leaves to see which will sink or float in the water.

As May is approaching, we will continue our investigation on insects. We have been watching the life cycle of a caterpillar these past few weeks. The children have watched the tiny caterpillars grow into big ones, and they are now in their chrysalis. The caterpillars will take time to grow, then we will be able to see them come out of the chrysalis and spread their wings and fly. We will also have the opportunity to watch the life cycle of a ladybug. Right now, the ladybugs are at the larva stage. They will grow into a pupa, then into a ladybug. Once the ladybugs and butterflies are fully grown, we will set them free outside.
