Ms Amanda's Class - Toddler 2

Parents,

It is so hard to believe how quickly another month has flown by. During the month of July, we have talked about fireworks or “Big Booms” as some of the children call them. We have also started talking about numbers and have begun counting everything.

We have done a lot of playing in the water. One of their favorite things is to take turns holding the hose and doing things like making it rain, giving each other showers, and having little car washes on the playground. They also enjoy taking the water tables that are usually inside to the outside and using sponges, scoops, and cups to fill, dump, and squeeze.

A couple of books that we have introduced to them that they really enjoyed was We Are All The Same, We Are All Different and Llama, Llama Misses Mama. July has been fun, and we are excited to start the month of August.

In the month of August, we will begin talking more about the letters of the alphabet. Some of them are beginning to get very interested in what letters are in their names. So, as you are reading at home or if you see a sign with the letters of their name, I encourage you to point those out to your child. They are fascinated with all the places their letters can be found.

We will also start talking about the different colors and shapes that we see. We have most of our colors memorized, but we are really interested in what shapes we see, too. I would also encourage you to point out the colors and shapes that you see on a daily basis.

Some of our younger ones are interested in naming things around them. As your child learns to talk, it is important to label or name the things they are playing with or that they bring to you. This helps them identify with the world around them.

As always, thank you for allowing us the opportunity to work alongside you to help your child grow and develop. We feel so blessed to have the opportunity to do so.
