For the month of August, we are going to focus on Creative skills in our ELG book. The standard that we will focus on is “Begin to understand his/her world by using senses to explore and experience the environment”. To help strengthen this skill, I will be singing more songs, and we will explore more with our musical instruments in our classroom. I will also do more art with the children utilizing finger painting, paint brushes, and cornhusks. By allowing the children to explore with these items, it will help strengthen their fine motor skills as well as their sense of touch. I will mix different textures in the paint and different smells to help enhance the children’s sense of smell and touch.
The last standard that I will be focusing on is physical development. “Demonstrate basic locomotor movement/Use large arm movement (non-locomotor)”. When it comes to the smaller infants that are non-mobile, I will work with them on rolling over, tummy time, and sitting in my lap to help strengthen the core muscles. With the mobile infants, we will work on standing up, cruising, and climbing.
I look forward to watching the children grow and learn all these new skills.
Sincerely
Ms. Ashley
