I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July! In the month of July, we have done so much, and the children have mastered new milestones from walking to crawling to sitting up and so much more. It warms my heart to watch the children learn a new skill every day.
For the month of August, we are going to stay with the creative skill which is, “Begin to understand his/her world by using sense to explore and experience the environment.” With this ELG, the children will explore by painting with scented paint from lemon, orange, and vanilla flavors. I also will put some oatmeal and rice mixed in the paint, and we will paint with bubble wrap, sandpaper, and wax paper as well. We will also continue to play in the water.
The next ELG that we will be focusing on in August is Language, “Begin to recognize sounds and or/ spoken words for familiar objects, people, and simple request.” With language, I am going to really focus on working with the children on sign language. We will be learning the words please, all done, more, and help. We will also read more books to help strengthen the children’s vocabulary and sing songs as well. I will also work on helping the children identify with their own emotions and ways to calm themselves down. It is important that I help the children be able to express their emotions to me and to their peers, as it helps them develop their language skills even more.
I look forward to teaching the children these new skills and watching them grow in their development and reach new milestones as well. The month of August is going to be full of fun and new journeys!
Sincerely,
Ms. Ashley
