Hello, Classroom One Families!
I cannot believe the month of September is over! As summer comes to an end and fall begins, I am excited for what’s in store for our class. Our class has been learning so many fun things. Miss Kortney and I love watching each child in our class grow in their own individual ways, and we have observed so much physical and mental growth. I could not be more proud of each child as they continue to learn new life skills.
For the month of September, we have been focusing on Mathematics. Through play and exploration, very young children begin developing math concepts. These concepts are much broader than counting and number experiences. Children begin to notice similarities and differences while exploring size, shape, texture, and function through their senses. In the classroom, we have done a number of fun activities to promote the development of new math skills. Some of these activities were hop-scotch, interacting with books about numbers, and incorporating saying the number out loud during our daily routines.
I am excited for the month of October as we will be learning about the Early Learning Guidelines of Health and Safety. We will continue to provide learning experiences to encourage exploration in a safe and healthy environment, and modeling appropriate actions and behaviors, as these are also strategies to promote healthy development. Handwashing routines, dressing for the weather, and eating nutritional foods are some health and safety practices occurring daily in a learning environment.
We have several educational activities in store for the month of October. We are also looking forward to our class party, and we are excited to see what all the children pick to dress up as. When we get closer to that time, I will have more information.
As always, be safe this month, and have a great October.
Sincerely,
Ms. Ashley and Ms. Kortney
