Hello, Parents!
Last month we spent time talking about different sizes, such as big and small. We also talked about shapes and colors, and we did some activities to help foster fine motor development such as lacing beads through holes and grasping pom poms using tweezers. The children were able to learn a lot through these activities.
We also had National Playdough Day, where we explored with playdough all day. The children had so much fun! We had a bakery where we baked “playdough cupcakes”, and we had an “Ice Cream Shop” where the children were able to use playdough and a variety of things such as scoops, cups, sprinkles, and cones to make "ice cream cones". The children were able to really strengthen their fine motor skills while practicing digging, scooping, and pouring. They had a great learning experience, and they had so much fun while playing!
In March, the class will focus on caring for ourselves, others, and animals. We are going to make a Veterinary Office in the dramatic playcenter and will let the children explore by using materials to give the animals checkups for care and toothbrushes to brush their teeth. It will be a great way to continue introducing them to hygiene and empathy in an imaginative way.
As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email me at cfortney@delawarechild.org.
