As of June 1, the Delaware Tribe has terminated all funding for the Washington County Child Care Foundation / Delaware Child Development. With this huge change for our organization, we have taken this opportunity to re-brand and re-commit to our vision of creating opportunities for human development that helps children, families, and educators build a brighter future. Our organization will now be known as Ivy Learning with child care services being provided at our Ivy Academies. Our dedication to the healthy development of your children will not change. Some services for some families will change, but we will continue to operate our high-quality child care services as we always have.
We will no longer be operating the center at Tuxedo and Madison, but we will maintain our other centers and home at Ivy Academy Downtown (Bartlesville), Ivy Academy West (Bartlesville), Ivy Academy Claremore, Ivy Academy Owasso/Sperry, and our family child care home in Owasso.
This change will be a big challenge for us – 90% of our funding was coming from the Delaware Tribe of Indians. But, we are excited for the opportunities that will arise from these changes! We have always sought to inspire children and families, imagine the possibilities ahead of us, and innovate early learning systems. Now, we are presented with the opportunity to bring that more creatively into our work and we are excited to embark on this journey with you!
We look forward to continuing to care for your children and serve your family.

It's Summertime!!
This month’s theme is Mud, Messy Play, and Sensory Fun! International Mud Day is June 29th. Sensory play is an important part of play time. Sensory play helps develop the whole child. They are learning language development, making nerve connections in their brains' pathways, learning social interactions, and so much more. Educational Playcare wrote an article about the benefits of sensory play for children. Click this link to read more!
We are at the end of our Complete Update 2. If we haven’t gotten your update, please expect a phone call or email in the next few days. Please remember that we are required to do updates twice a year. This will help families in our area looking for child care. . .

Mud Play for Kids: Why It’s Worth the Mess
If you had a childhood that included digging for colorful rocks and other “treasures,” or burying your very own time capsule in the dirt, you’re very fortunate! Mud play is not only a way to make precious childhood memories, it’s also a great way for children to learn, relax, and let out their creativity. Medical research shows that it can also be good for your child’s physical and emotional health. And you can’t start too early — even babies can benefit from mud play! Here’s more on why making mud pies and other kinds of mud play are great activities for a healthy child, plus details on how to make sure it’s safe. . .

Muddy Play: Reflections on Young Children's Outdoor Learning in an Urban Setting
Hannah Fruin’s inquiry about the benefits of young children’s muddy play was inspired by her belief that muddy play is a valuable experience. It helps children engage in the natural world through the manipulation of a range of materials during rich play encounters and through sensorial experimentation. But she was surprised that not all children desired to play in the mud. Her close observations revealed there was a range of comfort among the children with "getting dirty." Becoming curious, Hannah “set an intent” to find out whether the beliefs and experiences of important adults in young children’s lives surrounding muddy play influenced how children approached muddy play. In essence, her research is structured as a "nested approach" for understanding what children had learned about muddy play from others and in other contexts. . .

Sensory Play for Kids with Special Needs
Sensory play is essential for all kids to learn how their bodies work, and how to process and interpret the world around them. Sometimes the reality of a special need, like Down syndrome or autism spectrum disorder, provides a few barriers, but the need and importance of sensory play remain the same for all children.
